The NSB Trust Leadership Programmes were established with a clear and ambitious purpose: to nurture talent from across our family of schools and support effective succession planning across the Trust. Since their launch, the programmes have successfully developed many colleagues into leadership roles, strengthening leadership capacity and contributing to sustained school improvement. This commitment reflects our belief that investing in people is the most powerful driver of long-term success, ensuring that every school is led by confident, skilled and evidence-informed professionals.
Curriculum Leadership Programme

Get to Know Us
Our Curriculum Leadership Programme is designed to develop current and aspiring middle leaders as confident, research-informed curriculum thinkers who can design, implement and lead high-quality subject provision. It focuses on building a deep understanding of curriculum principles, including the nature of knowledge, sequencing, assessment and curriculum culture, enabling leaders to make deliberate and informed decisions that improve teaching and learning over time. The programme supports participants to evaluate existing practice, question curriculum choices and ensure that curriculum design leads to strong progression and lasting learning for all students.
Through a carefully structured sequence, the programme also develops leadership capacity by strengthening participants’ ability to lead change, inspire teams and deliver impact through others. Leaders are guided to reflect on their own strengths, engage in professional dialogue and build a collaborative, evidence-informed culture within their departments. The ambition is to equip leaders not only with the knowledge of effective curriculum design, but with the confidence and skill to sustain improvement and contribute to a wider culture of professional expertise across the Trust.
Pastoral Leadership Programme
Launched in 2025
The Pastoral Leadership Programme is designed to equip current and aspiring pastoral leaders with the knowledge, skills and strategic understanding required to support students’ attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and personal development. It recognises the vital role pastoral leaders play in creating inclusive school cultures where all students feel valued, supported and able to thrive. The programme focuses on helping leaders to develop clear pastoral vision and systems that meet the increasingly complex needs of students and families.
Through a carefully planned curriculum, participants explore areas such as behaviour, safeguarding, personal development and stakeholder engagement, alongside developing their ability to lead through others. The programme places a strong emphasis on moving from reactive approaches to strategic leadership, enabling pastoral leaders to build sustainable systems and strong relationships that have long-term impact. Its ambition is to develop confident, reflective leaders who can shape positive school cultures and contribute to a collaborative, evidence-informed approach to pastoral care across the Trust.
